MULTIDISCIPLINARY DESIGNER

My work is about my experiences with people, places, and moments. Through making I document and explore social narratives that go beyond the obvious to expose the depths of falsehood and relatable empathy of my subject matter. I enjoy design ideas from different cultures, conceptualizing, creating, and developing products with different mediums encompassing digital design wood, clay, and iron. Growing up in Ghana, I have always been influenced by African arts for its intrinsic aesthetic value as well as continuing to be a source of inspiration for his design work.Having created and developed products for Oregon-based, Swahili Imports, I have also assisted with public relations and trade show booth designs in NY, CA, and NC from 2006 to 2010. I have participated in Design and Development workshops for appropriate technology in Honduras, and Burkina Faso for small and cottage businesses.

PRODUCT DESIGNER

I worked as a field coordinator at Aid to Artisans. A nongovernmental organization that supports local craft makers to design, develop, and market the wares to foreign markets. These products were available in Pier 1, TJ Marx, West Elm, and more. The methods employed were modern African designs for markets in the United States and Europe.Having worked for Aid to Artisans as an intern and a field coordinator, I have had the opportunity to work with local artisans in Ghana to redesign the local craft for an international market. This design and development were through regional collaboration with designers and foreign ones.
